My car is a star

Post by Homestar »

My brother loves to rent our car to movie makers. ( In the Boston Ma area )
He goes to the filming with the car we own together.
Sometimes he himself becomes an 'extra'
They dress him in period correct clothes.

But he is really there for the friends he makes and fun he has on set.

Myself and my two brothers own the car and we sometimes drive it around in the summer.
We bought it for the heck of it but fell in love with it.
It floats when it travels and has a strong motor.
We tinker with it and enjoy having a common interest and toy as adults.

The movie sets hire our car for movies set in the 60's or 70's.
Since our car is a 1964 ( Olds F-85 wagon ) it fits the need wonderfully.

The color is original as is most of the paint.
The paint is a bit faded so it films well without too much shine.

The car was in the Netflix program 'Julia' story of Julia Child and also it was in a Leonardo Decaprio movie I can't remember the name of.
I don't have any clips of that but here are two clips that I do have from two movies.

The first is the most recent appearance.
It is seen here in this 0:09 second clip.
The movie just came out but the filming was last year.
The movie is 'The Holdovers'
The beige wagon passing by is our car.
I forget how much they pay us but when the car is driven we get extra money.

This is a 23 second clip from ''Detroit' Official Trailer (2017) | John Boyega, Will Poulter"
The movie was about a famous riot in the 60's at the Algiers hotel.
Our wagon is seen only for a split second at the 0:08 second mark.
